N.E.R.D. 2 – Nautical Embedded Resources Director is a modular electronic control system developed specifically for marine reverse-osmosis watermakers.
At the heart of the system is an ESP32-P4 Main Controller with a 4-inch 800 × 480 touchscreen interface. Dedicated ESP32-S3 nodes handle sensors and pressure-valve control, while an Ethernet/PoE network and Modbus TCP I/O provide communication with pumps, valves, relays and other watermaker equipment.
N.E.R.D. 2 provides the functions required for modern watermaker operation and supervision, including:
- automatic and manual pressure regulation;
- automatic valve homing and position control;
- feed and high-pressure pump management;
- automatic production by time or produced-water volume;
- TDS, flow, pressure and temperature monitoring;
- automatic product-water diversion according to water quality;
- configurable overpressure protection;
- fresh-water flushing control;
- operating hours and production counters;
- diagnostics, service functions and communication monitoring.
The distributed architecture keeps sensing, actuator control and the user interface separated, simplifying installation, wiring, troubleshooting and future expansion.
