AQUABOOST Energy Recovery Marine Watermaker
High Efficiency 12V Reverse Osmosis System – Only 6.3 W per Liter
The AQUABOOST energy recovery marine watermaker by Blue Gold Watermakers, powered by the Electromaax Enhanced Clark Pump, is engineered to deliver exceptional freshwater production with extremely low power consumption, making it one of the most efficient desalination systems available for boats.
Thanks to advanced hydraulic energy recovery technology, the system achieves outstanding efficiency of just 6.3W per liter of produced water. It can generate up to 60 l/h (380 GPD) while consuming only 29 Amps at 12V, making it the perfect solution for sailboats and yachts relying on solar panels, wind generators, or limited onboard power.
Compact 3” 3021 Membrane Design – More Performance, Less Space
This upgraded AQUABOOST version features a modern 3” × 21” (3021) pressure vessel, replacing traditional 2540 or dual 2521 configurations.
The result is a significantly more compact installation footprint, especially in terms of width, while maintaining comparable membrane surface area and production capacity. This makes it ideal for tight engine rooms and technical spaces where every centimeter matters.
Additionally, the use of oversized 3/4” feed and brine ports ensures improved flow distribution across the membrane, leading to:
- More stable operating pressure
- Better overall efficiency
- Optimized performance even in demanding conditions
Proven Energy Recovery Technology for Maximum Efficiency
At the heart of the AQUABOOST system is the Enhanced Clark Pump, a highly reliable hydraulic intensifier that recovers energy from the brine stream and reuses it within the system.
This dramatically reduces the workload on the high-pressure pump, resulting in:
- Lower power consumption
- Reduced mechanical stress
- Increased system lifespan
Unlike conventional watermakers, AQUABOOST maintains consistent performance across a wide range of seawater temperatures and salinity levels without requiring manual pressure adjustments.
Feed Pump Material – Brass vs Stainless Steel
The AQUABOOST system is equipped with a high-quality rotary vane feed pump in marine-grade brass, a deliberate and practical choice based on real-world seawater operation.
While some marine watermaker brands offer “stainless steel” feed pumps, it is important to understand that these are typically made from AISI 303, not AISI 316L. Due to its sulfur content, AISI 303 has significantly reduced corrosion resistance and is not suitable for continuous exposure to seawater, despite its visually appealing finish.
In contrast, brass performs reliably in seawater environments, offering better resistance to corrosion in this specific application, along with lower cost and easier serviceability. For this reason, brass remains the preferred material for many proven marine installations.
From a practical boating perspective, we also recommend carrying a spare feed pump on board, as any experienced and well-prepared captain would. This ensures maximum redundancy and peace of mind during extended cruising.
Thanks to the use of a robust brass construction, the pump remains highly affordable, making it a sensible and cost-effective spare to keep on hand without significantly impacting your budget.
Proper system care remains essential: freshwater flushing after each use is strongly recommended to extend the lifespan of all components, including the feed pump, regardless of material.
Built for Reliability – No Proprietary Parts
The AQUABOOST marine watermaker is designed for long-term durability in harsh marine environments. Critical high-pressure components are built using corrosion-resistant materials, including titanium, ensuring reliable operation even at elevated pressures.
The system is also fully serviceable with standard, non-proprietary consumables, allowing:
- Lower maintenance costs
- Easy worldwide servicing
- Full independence from manufacturer-specific parts
Designed for DIY Installation and Easy Maintenance
With its compact layout, modular architecture, and reduced system width thanks to the 3021 vessel, AQUABOOST is particularly well suited for DIY watermaker installations.
The system includes:
- Cintropur centifugal prefilter
- Analog panel with Flowmeter, Pump switch and Flush switch
- Simplified plumbing and electrical setup
- Automatic pressure regulation
This makes installation and daily operation straightforward, even for non-specialist users.
