Intelligent Remote Valve Automation for Marine and Industrial Systems
The N.E.R.D. Remote Valve Controller is a compact and powerful motorized valve control platform developed for precise remote adjustment of proportional flow control valves in marine and industrial environments.
Originally developed as part of the N.E.R.D. (Nautical Embedded Resource Director) ecosystem, the controller combines modern embedded hardware, touchscreen operation and intelligent software-based positioning into a practical and highly flexible valve automation system.
The system is particularly suited for:
- marine watermakers
- pressure regulation systems
- experimental process automation
- remote hydraulic and fluid control
- industrial flow adjustment applications

The controller is delivered fully assembled, preconfigured and wired.

The system is designed for direct installation and integration into custom automation projects.
Touchscreen Interface
The integrated touchscreen user interface allows direct control without requiring additional software or external controllers.
Functions include:
- OPEN / CLOSE valve control
- LOW / MED / HIGH movement speeds
- live valve position display
- OPEN ZERO and CLOSED ZERO calibration
- persistent position memory
The interface is intentionally simple, responsive and optimized for practical operation.
Persistent Position Memory
The controller automatically stores valve position whenever movement stops.
After power loss or restart, the system restores:
- valve position
- calibration state
- software travel limits
This allows reliable operation even if the valve is stopped in an intermediate position.
Automatic Recalibration Logic
The N.E.R.D. Remote Valve Controller uses an intelligent software-based recalibration system.
Instead of relying on encoders, Hall sensors, mechanical limit switches, the controller automatically redefines its position reference whenever a software travel limit is reached.
This provides simplified installation, reduced hardware complexity, improved reliability, easier field maintenance
Valve Compatibility
The current production version was developed around the:
Tognella FT 2251/2-01
AISI316 stainless steel double-acting flow control valve
The smooth regulation characteristics of the Tognella valve make it particularly well suited for precision stepper-based remote adjustment.
Other compatible valves may also be supported depending on required travel, torque, mounting geometry
